 | Rodney A. Butler serves as Chairman of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Council as of January 1, 2010. Mr. Butler has served on the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Council since January, 2004. In January, 2005, Mr. Butler was elected Treasurer of Tribal Council. During his tenure on Tribal Council, Mr. Butler served as chairman for the Tribe's Housing and Judicial Committees, and chairman for the Finance Committee during his tenure as Tribal Council Treasurer. Raised in Montville, Connecticut, Councilor Butler graduated from Montville High School and from the University of Connecticut with a degree in finance. While at the university, he played Defensive Back for the Huskies' football team. Chairman Butler is a former financial analyst at the Tribal Nation's Foxwoods Resort Casino. He later became Chairman of the Tribal Business Advisory Board, a position he held before his election to Council. The Tribal Business Advisory Board oversees the portfolio of non-gaming assets owned by the MPTN. Mr. Butler was actively involved in the resort expansion at Foxwoods, as well as the Phase VII housing development on the Reservation, and presently is focused to ensure long-term stability for the tribal government and its enterprises. |
 | Richard E. Sebastian serves as the Vice Chairman of the Tribal Council. Vice Chairman Sebastian currently serves as chairman of the Economic Development and Public Safety Committees. During his tenure on Tribal Council since taking office in January 2003, Mr. Sebastian served as Chairman of the Parks and Recreation and Administrative Support Committees. Mr. Sebastian was also responsible for designing a home ownership program for the tribe's Phase VII housing development on the reservation in connection with the Fannie Mae Corporation. Mr. Sebastian holds a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice and Associates Degree in Business Management with a concentration in Tribal Government through the University of New Haven. His prior contribution to the Tribal community includes employment as Security Director, Tribal Councilor (1989-1991), Tribal Police officer, Vice Chairman of the Athletic Commission, and Executive staff to a former Tribal Councilor and a former Tribal Council Chairman. As Tribal Council Vice Chairman, Mr. Sebastian remains committed to assisting and developing tribal members for employment in leadership positions within the tribe's enterprises, and the development of programs that empower tribal members to acquire apprenticeships, investment skills, professional development, trade and entrepreneurial skills that enhance tribal members' ability to gain self-sufficiency and wealth. |
 | Marjorie Colebut-Jackson is the Secretary of the Tribal Council as of January 2010. Ms. Colebut Jackson has served on the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Council since January 1, 2005, and is the Chairwoman for the Tribe's Health and Human Services, Judicial, and Pow-Wow Committees as well as Co-Chairwoman of the Family Protection & Reunification Team. In addition to her committee work, Ms. Colebut Jackson dedicated herself to the following initiatives: Providing balance and accountability to the Tribe's cultural integration initiatives, Sustainability for the Tribe's Mission Statement, improvement for internal communications, facilitation of the Tribe's Unity Campaign, development of tribal members' maximum human potential, and support for the Tribe's Council for the Advancement of Youth. Ms. Colebut-Jackson's previous community involvement included serving as chairwoman for the Tribe's Pequot Pharmaceutical Network board of directors, followed by her appointment as President of Pequot Pharmaceutical Network responsible for the oversight of tribal community and employee health care and management of the Tribe's pharmaceutical business. Presently she is a corporator of Lawrence & Memorial Hospital and also serves on the boards of Elderly Housing Development & Operations Corporation and Futures for Children. |
 | James T. Jackson is the Tribal Council Treasurer as of January 2010 and is serving a 3-year term which began in January 2009. Mr. Jackson serves as chairman of the Tribe's Finance and Education Committees. His previous committee service includes the Community Planning and Economic Development Committees and Constitution Review Team. Mr. Jackson holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from the University of Tampa, Florida and Associate degrees in Information Technology and Construction Management. Prior to his service on the Tribal Council, Mr. Jackson spent many years working for Foxwoods Resort Casino in the Information Technology field, first as an Information Systems Engineer, then as the Manager of Distributed Systems followed by his promotion to Deputy Chief Information Officer and later Executive Director of Enterprise Technology. Mr. Jackson also served the Tribal Government as an assistant to the director of the Tribe's Community & Resort Development Department and Deputy Chief Operating Officer. |
 | Maureen Sebastian is a member of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Council, having served since January 2008. Councilwoman Sebastian serves as Chairwoman of both the Housing Committee and Parks and Recreation Committee. Ms. Sebastian holds a Bachelors Degree from the University of New Haven, focused in management. Her prior involvement with the Tribal community includes the position of Chief Surveillance Officer, through which she directed the operational, technical and investigative aspects of casino and security surveillance and managed a staff of more than sixty team members. Prior to this position, Ms. Sebastian served as a Surveillance Officer, and later Surveillance Manager, and board member for the Foxwoods Development Company board of directors. |
 | Crystal M. Whipple is a member of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Council serving a three year term which began January 1, 2010. Ms. Whipple is a graduate of the University of New Haven with an Associates Degree in Business Administration. Most recently, Ms. Whipple served as Chairwoman and previously Vice Chairwoman for the Tribe's Business Advisory board; an executive management team responsible for the oversight of all non-gaming enterprises and commercial property owned by the Tribe. Ms. Whipple ascended to leadership through nineteen years of diverse employment within the tribal government including the Tribal Manager's Office, Chief of Staff's Office, a Tribal Councilor's Office and the Pequot Pharmaceutical Network (PRxN). As a councilwoman, Ms. Whipple serves as chairwoman to the tribe's Administrative Support and Historical and Cultural Preservation committees. Her previous tribal government committee experience includes the Tribe's Child Protection Team, Parent Advisory Board for the Tribal Child Development Center, Education Committee and Housing Committee. Mrs. Whipple is married to Thomas Whipple, Sr. Together they have three sons. |
 | Steven J. Thomas is a member of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Council, serving a three-year term which began January 1, 2010. Councilman Thomas serves as chairman to the Tribe's Natural Resources Protection Committee and Community Planning Committee. Mr. Thomas' previous Tribal community involvement includes staff support in the Parks and Recreation Department from June through September, 1993. Mr. Thomas then began a 15-year career in Environmental Services and Natural Resources Protection, beginning as staff support in September, 1993. He was appointed as the Tribe's Erosion Control Manager for Environmental Services from April 1994 through May 1995. Mr. Thomas was appointed to Associate Director for the Tribe's Natural Resources Department from May 1995 through May 1996 and was later promoted to Assistant Director beginning in May 1996 through May 2008. Mr. Thomas has been a member of the Tribe's Finance Committee since January 2009. He also provided staff support for the Mashantucket Pequot Leasing Company Board. |
